Â鶹ƵµÀPublic Access Policy
On February 22, 2013, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) released the memorandum entitled "Increasing Access to the Results of Federally Funded Scientific Research." This memorandum requires Federal agencies to make the results of federally funded scientific research available to and useful for the public, industry, and the scientific community.
In response, Â鶹ƵµÀpublished its plan in 2015 for establishing a policy for public access to scientific publications and scientific data in digital format resulting from Â鶹ƵµÀfunding, the Â鶹ƵµÀPublic Access Policy for Scientific Publications in 2016, and Â鶹ƵµÀData Management Plan Policy in 2020.
Â鶹ƵµÀintends, to the fullest extent possible and contingent on the availability of funds, to make available to the public all scientific publications and data arising from unclassified research and programs funded wholly or in part by AHRQ.
Â鶹ƵµÀPolicy for Public Access to AHRQ-Funded Scientific Publications
The Â鶹ƵµÀPolicy for Public Access to Â鶹ƵµÀfunded Scientific Publications requires that AHRQ-funded authors submit an electronic version of the author’s final peer-reviewed accepted manuscript to the National Library of Medicine's PubMed Central (PMC) upon acceptance by the journal, and to be made publicly available within 12 months of the publisher’s date of publication. This Policy applies to Â鶹ƵµÀintramural researchers, extramural recipients of Â鶹ƵµÀgrants and cooperative agreement awards; and Â鶹ƵµÀcontractors conducting research.
Â鶹ƵµÀData Management and Sharing Policy
This policy requires applicants for Â鶹ƵµÀnew/competing grants and research contracts to include a DMP for managing, storing and disseminating the primary data, samples, physical collections and other supporting materials created or gathered in the course of research funded by AHRQ, or state why data management is not possible, as a component of their grant application or research contract proposal. Â鶹ƵµÀintramural researchers are also expected to submit a DMP with their research proposal. Moreover, all new grant and cooperative agreement applications, and contract proposals are encouraged to include a section detailing the applicants' progress and/or experience to-date with sharing data in digital format arising from previous Â鶹ƵµÀfunding.
This policy applies to Â鶹ƵµÀintramural researchers and extramural recipients of Â鶹ƵµÀgrants and research contracts, unless otherwise specified in the funding opportunity announcement or request for proposals. This policy applies to all scientific metadata in digital format arising from Â鶹ƵµÀfunding.
